Brand new Giant Birdhouse Eco Cabins in Coastal South Devon
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a collection of romantic, off-grid eco cabins, brand new to the market and located in an outstanding woodland location overlooking the Start Bay coastline of South Devon. It is opening for its first visitors in April 2023.
The charming off grid eco cabins (currently numbering two, set to increase over time), each with their own private deck, are nestled in a secret seaside garden on a private estate, overlooking the sea and rugged south Devon coastline. They are a five minute walk from the Blue Flag beach at Blackpool Sands.
The cabins are made from sustainably sourced wood, and each one has excellent insulation and a biofuel fireplace making them suitable for year round stays. Inside, a comfy double bed where you can gaze out of the circular window and out to sea. Each of the birdhouses have their own private bathroom right next door. Also on site is the Captain’s Cabin, a BYOB pub and kitchen made from locally sourced sustainable larch and set in the woodland with views of the sea through the magnolia and cork trees.
Tabitha Symonds, founder of One Off Places, says: `Cleverly designed using environmentally friendly technologies, traditional craftsmanship and sustainable materials, these giant birdhouse cabins are the very essence of an environmentally low impact business and here at One Off Places this is exactly the type of place we like to champion’.
The cabin owners are well versed in working with the latest off-grid technology - one of their recent projects involved renovating a 109 year Dutch Tjalk (Dutch sailing barge). By using solar power, capturing rainwater, being inventive, and thinking laterally, they are providing guests with a stay that is equal in comfort to an ‘on-grid’ experience.
A stay in one of the cabins costs from £145 per night, self catering.
