Set within the sleepy hamlet of Hurst with miles of stunning countryside on its doorstep, The Little Barn is a luxuriously converted old agricultural building in North Yorkshire where you can retreat from the stresses of modern life. Small but perfectly formed, The Little Barn does exactly what it says on the tin. The interiors are bright and contemporary, with high ceilings, glass doors, bespoke furnishings and all the mod cons and thoughtful touches you could want for a relaxing stay. From the barn you can enjoy gorgeous countryside views - in fact you don’t even have to get out of bed to appreciate these! And nearby there are picturesque market towns, cosy village pubs, bracing dales walks, challenging cycling trails and all manner of quirky little shops, cafes and museums. This is a charming little bolthole for those in search of peace, tranquility and romance.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park and The Yorkshire Moors were designated International Dark Sky Reserves in December 2020, and The Little Barn is now proud to have been officially recognised as Dark Sky Friendly. On a clear night, it is possible to see the Milky Way, Planets, Meteors as well as over 2,000 stars! Inside The Little Barn you'll find your very own stargazing pack of binoculars, red torch, warm blankets, a flask and a stargazing guide. Can you think of anything more romantic than gazing up at the night sky, either from the comfort of the garden, or you could pack a flask of hot chocolate and walk up onto the moors opposite for an even more romantic experience.
A walk across the moorland will take you to the pretty dales town of Reeth where you will find a variety of shops, pubs and cafes as well as the fascinating Swaledale Museum. Cycling is a popular pursuit and the famous hill climbs of the Buttertubs Pass are not far away, or you could head to the characterful market towns of Bedale, Leyburn and Northallerton. Traditional Masham is great for a day trip, especially on market day, and the Wensleydale creamery in Hawes is a must-see, or you could discover the history of Hackfall Woods and Barnard Castle.
