The house is in the pretty village of Silverdale and looks across the bay towards Grange-over-Sands. The village is well served by shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs and the Silverdale train station on the edge of the town connects to mainlines, or you can choose to take a trip along the Cumbrian coast. The larger towns of Carnforth, Morecambe and Lancaster are just a short drive, and Lake Windermere and the Lake District are only 20 miles away.
Silverdale is an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) straddling the Lancashire / Cumbria border, and is well placed for exploring. There are plenty of walking trails in the vicinity (Silverdale is on the Lancashire Coastal Way footpath), and the rural setting makes it a great place for bird watching. Enjoy the sweeping sea views from Arnside Knott, or head for the shoreline at Jenny Brown’s Point. There’s no shortage of things to do in the surrounding area. Footpaths galore. Visit Gait Barrows and Leighton Moss Nature Reserves, or Eaves Wood, which is under National Trust ownership. You can visit Brantwood Lodge, home of the Victorian writer and philosopher, John Ruskin. Explore Beatrix Potter’s 17th century farmhouse or visit Leven’s Hall and Gardens in Kendal to see the world’s oldest topiary. You can take the train from Silverdale to the market town of Ulverston with its winding streets and independent shops. Take a steam boat trip across Coniston Water, or on rainy days head for Morecambe to the bowling alley or cinema.
