The bustling market town of Romsey is 2 miles away and hosts some fantastic farmers’ markets throughout the year, which are well worth adding to your itinerary. Alternatively, enjoy a peaceful few hours strolling around the majestic grounds of Mottisfont Abbey (4 miles).



The cottage is full of character and charm, with gorgeous, exposed beams adorning the ceiling in the lounge and a roaring wood burner to snuggle in front of on chilly evenings. The bright and airy kitchen has ample room to prepare delicious meals for the group, which you can enjoy together in the charming dining room or outside on a warm day. Heading upstairs you’ll find two pretty bedrooms decorated in neutral tones and with soft lighting to create a relaxing atmosphere. Outside, there’s a partially enclosed garden with a BBQ for al fresco dining. Dog owners will also appreciate the handy dog-washing facilities in the barn.



Pull on your hiking boots and take on a segment of the 44-mile Test Way. The long-distance route passes through some of Hampshire’s most picturesque villages, as well as through meadows, along rivers and past some wonderful pubs. While away an afternoon at Mottisfont Abbey National Trust. This magnificent 18th-century house has a stunning art collection as well as contemporary exhibitions. There’s also a beautiful rose garden to admire and rolling lawns that make the perfect setting for a picnic.
