General Info

The house is decorated throughout with natural fabrics and original art pieces. In the restoration of this house we have used only local craftsman and natural materials. From limestone flag flooring to oak doors, we have endeavoured with every addition or restoration to bring a very old cottage back to life. Southrop village is a small unspoilt Cotswold village with an excellent gastropub The Swan  and Ox barn restaurant and Spa at Thyme.  There is a community run village shop, which opens every Wednesday morning. Extensive shopping is available nearby however in nearby Burford, Fairford and Lechlade.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The house is in a fantastic position at the gateway to the Cotswolds. You can discover a myriad of pretty villages and historic towns such as Oxford, Bibury, Burford, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Warwick, Stratford Upon Avon and Bath or just stay close by and take a walk over the fields or a boat on the nearby Thames. In fact nearby Burford was recently voted one of the six most idyllic places to live in Europe. The closest shopping towns to Southrop are Burford and Carterton. They both have a range of shops. The town of Lechlade to the south is on the banks of the Thames and is well worth a visit and has a small selection of shops. The most comprehensive range of shops in the area however, can be found in Witney and further on Oxford has most of the national shops that are present in every major city.  Culls Cottage is also only a short  drive from Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm shop and pub The Farmer's Dog.
