Hemmel House is an elegant, spacious and contemporary 3 bedroom house in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, less than a mile from the pretty coastal village of Craster in Northumberland. Sleeping up to 6 people (though there’s an additional cottage and a large hall if you want more space), it’s in a wonderful setting just a mile from the nearest beach at Embleton Bay, and with easy access to the delights of the beautiful Northumberland coastline.
The house is situated in the heart of the countryside, just under a mile from the harbour village of Craster and a mile or so north along a pretty bridleway to the beautiful beach at Embleton Bay. The picture windows in two of the ground floor rooms give uninterrupted rural views with the sea and Dunstanburgh Castle on the horizon. There’s a host of historical and recreational sites to visit in the vicinity, marvellous beaches and coastal walks, as well as visits to local castles, gardens and islands. Something for everyone in the group. Please note Hemmel House is opposite Stable Cottage (sleeps 4) and Dunstan Hall (sleeps 18). Properties can be booked in combination for a larger group of guests and sleep 29 in total.
If you can drag yourself away from the beautiful setting in which you’ll be staying, there’s no shortage of places to go and things to see in the vicinity. You’re based just one mile from the sea and Craster harbour, from where the beautiful coastline stretches north to Dunstanburgh, Embleton, Beadnell and Bamburgh, and to the south following the sea as far as Alnmouth. Within a 40 minute drive you can find yourself at no less than six castles, and there are also some beautiful gardens nearby, not least the famous Alnwick Gardens. For the foodies amongst you, there are several renowned places to eat and drink, and in fact Craster itself is world famous for its kippers! Interior Details
The house is newly built in a traditional style using local craftsmen and materials - its slate floors, exposed beams and picture windows all combine to give off an eco chic vibe. It sleeps six guests in three bedrooms - two kings and a twin (plus an additional child’s bed available in the study). All three bedrooms have en suite shower rooms, and there’s an additional cloakroom / toilet. The main bedroom is on the ground floor, making it ideal for those with reduced mobility. There is a vaulted entrance hall which leads to the spacious and open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room which has exposed beams and full length picture windows on two sides. There’s a second sitting room, also with a picture window and with a log burner, and a separate study room beyond (which can accommodate an extra child if required). The kitchen is very modern and includes all the mod cons, crockery and utensils you might need, as well as a boiling water tap, ice dispenser and dishwasher, and there is a washing machine and dryer in the utility room. The sitting room has a Smart TV. The heating is all thermostatically controlled using an eco friendly air source heat pump system and there is wifi throughout.
