Villa Theatro is made up of nine apartments in a historic building in the city centre of Braga in north Portugal. It’s a superb destination for a city break with its medieval cathedral, narrow lanes, and plazas bursting with restaurants and cafes.
Villa Theatro is a historic building dating back to 1922 when it was designed by the well known architect Moura Coutinho, who was also responsible for the design of the Theatro Circo building which is located next door. The building has been sensitively restored and converted, and the interiors are a blend of traditional Portuguese furniture alongside contemporary features.
Braga is teeming with religious history - its cathedral is the oldest in Portugal (built before Portugal was even a country!). It is a mix of roman / gothic and baroque architecture and is an absolute must for a visit. Head up to the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Sameiro, the highest point of the city where you can enjoy wonderful views across the region, visit some of the city’s museums, or the old castle. The city is packed with lively cafes and restaurants, boutique shops and galleries.
