A beautifully preserved and sensitively converted medieval tower dating back to 1350, 3km from one of the most picturesque villages in Romagna, Italy. Sleeping up to eight people, this historic tower house is the ultimate retreat for those looking for peace and tranquility, surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful landscapes.
The Battagli Tower stands on the banks of the Marecchia River to protect the Tomba de’ Battagli farm. It was built in 1229 by Balduccio Battagli, is 22m high and adorned with Ghibelline battlements. It is located halfway between the sea of the Rimini Riviera and the castles of the Marecchia Valley.
The tower is in a very peaceful and rural setting but is not totally remote, as there is a small grocery store, traditional bakery, post office and pharmacy very nearby. Within 1km you will also find a selection of excellent restaurants, a riding school and a golf club. The nearest town is Santarcangelo di Romagna. The tower is well located for inland excursions, and there’s no shortage of opportunities for hiking, biking and horseback riding in the vicinity. 300m from the tower is the cycle trail along the river, from where you can access Rimini, the sea of the Riviera Romagnola, and the many castles and villages of the Marecchia Valley. There is a bus stop 800m away. Rimini is a 10 minute drive and San Marino a 20 minute drive.
