The Old Post Office building right in the heart of Salcombe's Golden Triangle is only a few yards from the water's edge with everything Salcombe has to offer right on your doorstep. Sleeping up to seven, the property looks straight down to the harbour with wonderful, far-reaching views across the estuary to the East Portlemouth shore and is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a holiday cottage by the sea in Devon.
Ringmore House is a gorgeous period property with high ceilings and beautifully crafted cornicing, all of which complements the uninterrupted views of the estuary, just a moment’s walk from the house. Salcombe itself is renowned as a sailing and boating centre and is located on the shore of one of the most beautiful estuaries in the South West. With a series of golden, sandy beaches running along the estuary on both sides making it extremely popular, the town also has much to offer in the way of history and has an excellent range of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Situated within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property offers an excellent base from which to explore Devon and the South Coast. There are many outdoor activities available to for you to participate in whilst soaking up the stunning scenery, such as, walking (link up with the National Trust Coast Path on the East side of Portlemouth), cycling, watersports, golf, riding and of course, sailing. The area is notorious for shipwrecks, one of the most famous being one of only three known Bronze Age wrecks in Britain, which is located just off the coast. The ruins of Salcombe Castle, (famous for being the last Royalist stronghold during the English Civil War), are well worth a visit. Check out Overbecks Museum and Garden, once the home of the famous inventor and scientist, Otto Overbeck, and now a National Trust property. During the summer months there is a heated outdoor swimming pool in the town. You can take a ferry to some popular local beaches and to Kingsbridge. Some other popular areas within easy driving distance are Plymouth, Torquay, Dartmoor National Park, Start Point Lighthouse and Dartmouth Castle.
