One-Off Feature

The Booking Office is the larger of two holiday lets on the site of a former Victorian train station in rural Herefordshire.  Dating back to 1861, the station has been completely rebuilt in the style of a typical Great Western Railway building of the Victorian era and now offers fantastic accommodation for unique holiday stays.  Tudor towns, village pubs and rolling Herefordshire hills on your doorstep.  For larger groups, book both properties (sleeping 10 in total).

General Info

The station is situated down a quiet and pretty country lane within the agricultural heartland of Herefordshire's Frome Valley.   The original station was built by the West Midland Railway Company, at the behest of Lady Emily Foley of the Stoke Edith Estate, in 1861.  One of the covenants on the land was that the train would be obliged to stop at the station on request, whenever the Foleys or their guests wished to travel.  The station's heyday was between the 1870's and the Edwardian era, but was one of thousands of rural stations to finally close in 1965. It was bought in 1997 as a derelict plot by the family who still own it today, and they have revived the station and accompanying yard to its former glory, and recreated this piece of precious rural history. 

 

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The station is in a rural setting, but there’s lots to explore in the local area.  The closest village shop is a few minutes drive away, or if you need a bigger shop, the market towns of Ledbury and Hereford are both within a 15 minute drive, and aside from the convenience of supermarkets, both these Tudor towns are well worth exploring.  There are lots of pubs and eateries in the local area, including a fabulous little spot called The Nest, a shop, garden centre, cafe and pop up bar.  There are breweries, vineyards, distilleries and cider tasting all within 20 minutes.  Other attractions in the vicinity include Newbridge Farm Park (10 mins away) and Eastnor Castle (20 mins away).  There are also some great walks and bike rides nearby too, through ancient woodland, orchards, rivers and valleys.

Interior Details
Arriving into the house via the sheltered ‘corridor’ in the middle of the building, you arrive in a spacious lobby with wood burning stove which links through to the living room.  The living / dining room has plenty of comfy seating around the wood burner, and a large dining table and chairs.  There are doors out onto the platform.  The well equipped country kitchen is through a brick archway and is complete with all the mod cons including fridge freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob and plentiful crockery and utensils.  Also downstairs is a utility area and downstairs shower room with WC.  Upstairs there are three bedrooms, two king size and one twin room.  The king size rooms each have an ensuite bathroom and there’s a family bathroom with corner bath and shower.

Exterior Details
The property has a platform patio where you can sit and enjoy the historic feel of this rural station site - perfect for all weathers as it’s sheltered by the station overhang.  Please note the platform is not enclosed and although you enjoy your own seating and dining space, the platform is shared with the Waiting Room next door. The whole platform edge has secure fencing along the boundary to the railway line.  There’s also ample outdoor communal space within the station yard, including a larger lawn which is perfect for garden games.

Conditions of Rental
Check in from 4pm, check out by 10am.  No smoking, parties or events.  Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.
