One-Off Feature

Nestled in a secret seaside garden woodland, this is one of a collection of charming off grid eco cabins with its own private deck overlooking the Start Bay coastline in Devon and just a few minutes walk from Blackpool Sands blue flag beach. These romantic rural retreats are just perfect for anyone in search of unique holidays or UK glamping breaks.

General Info

These stylish little eco cabins are designed to make you feel at one with the woodlands and wildlife. The are located on part of the privately owned Blackpool and Start Estate which stretches from Stoke Fleming to Start Point in South Devon.  They have simply stunning views over woodlands and Start Bay and have been cleverly and stylishly designed using environmentally friendly technologies, traditional craftsmanship and sustainable materials.  Offgrid essentially means not being connected to mains electricity or water.  At the cabins, everything is run off 12v.  Lighting and phone charging is run using solar power - there are two USB sockets and a 12v car outlet socket in the cabin.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

If you can drag yourself away from gazing into the woodlands or at the seascape, marine mammal spotting from your bed, or stargazing with a hot chocolate and a warm blanket, there’s masses to see and do in the surrounding area.   Blackpool Sands beach is a 5 minute walk from the cabin so you have the option of seaswims, watersports, surfing and beach activities on your doorstep.  There are lots of great walking trails and cycle routes in the vicinity as well as a great selection of nearby pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
Each cabin can sleep two people in one large and comfy double bed which converts into a table.  There is space for a travel cot for those travelling with a baby.  Enjoy watching the sunrises and sunsets through the beautifully crafted ‘birdhouse’ window.  The duvets and pillows are made in Devon from 100% British merino wool, and there are cosy recycled blankets.   The cabin has its own private kitchenette with gas hob, kettle, cafetiere, mugs and glasses, hot and cold water, and a cool box.  Each birdhouse has its own private bathroom right next door to the cabin, complete with hot shower and a high tech off grid loo (no composting loos here).  Towels, eco shampoo and soap are all provided.  The cabin is made from sustainably sourced wood, is well insulated and there is a biofuel fireplace to keep you warm during the chillier months.  The stove is run on bioethanol fuel.  Laundry facilities available in Stoke Fleming village.

Also on site is the Captain’s Cabin, a BYOB pub and kitchen made from locally sourced sustainable larch and set in the woodland with views of the sea through the magnolia and cork trees.  It’s kitted out with an open fireplace, a large dining table, a wood oven, gas hobs, sink (with hot water) fridge and a variety of kitchen essentials, and is a great place to come and cook up a meal or enjoy a drink.

Exterior Details
Each romantic hideaway cabin has its own private deck where you can sit and look out over the beach and sea. There’s a dry storage box for you to store walking boots, shoes etc. There is onsite parking a short way up a track (under a one minute walk).  Glamping in England doesn't always guarantee perfect weather but there's no reason why you can't go out and about, rain or shine!

Conditions
50% deposit payable on booking.  Check in from 3pm-7pm, check out by 10am.  Minimum stay 2 nights.  Sorry, no dogs. 4G/5G available but no wifi or standard electricity.  The cabins are open from April - November each year.
