One-Off Feature

Nestled in the heart of the Perigord Noir, Le Gatellou is a charming house in France`s Dordogne region with an inviting swimming pool, private grounds and exceptional views of the countryside. Where better to switch off and relax?

General Info

Dating back to the 19th century and built with beautiful old stones, this delightful villa has been lovingly furnished and now provides a haven of peace and tranquillity in the picturesque Dordogne region. Inside it is bright and homely, with original beams and exposed walls throughout. Outside, the gardens stretch for 1.6 hectares and comprise a lovely pool, a south-facing sun terrace and an abundance of ancient lime trees offering shade. And although it feels wonderfully secluded, the village of La Salamonie is just down the road and the whole area is full of castles, caves, medieval towns and opportunities for various outdoor pursuits. It’s the perfect setting for a stress-free summer holiday.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The Perigord Noir (so named because of the density of dark oak forests) is one of the Dordogne’s most beautiful and unspoilt regions, and it has a huge amount to offer its visitors. The valleys are home to chateaux, gardens and gorgeous villages like Beynac, Rocamadour, Domme, Sarlat and Montignac (to name but a few). By day you can laze on river beaches, go canoeing and swimming or enjoy hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing and golf, and in the evening you can sit back with a glass of wine and sample the local gastronomy.
