Once used as the groom’s quarters of an elegant manoir, La Loge is charming old house full of exposed stone walls, shabby chic furnishings and contemporary comforts. If you’re looking for classical French character then you’ll find it here. On the site of a former Cognac Estate, you have unlimited access to all the facilities including pool, tennis courts, golf course and a restaurant.
On a former cognac estate on the Charente/Dordogne border you will find La Loge, a former groom’s quarters which has been sensitively renovated into a modern, spacious and stylish holiday retreat. Situated on a traditional French courtyard, the house itself is airy and light, with everything you could need for a home-from-home experience. Within the estate you will find a whole host of facilities, from a golf club and tennis courts to a swimming pool and a bar/restaurant. And nearby is one of the prettiest villages in France, as well as river beaches, vineyards and historic sites aplenty. Can you think of anything more idyllic?
The beautiful rolling countryside that surrounds the estate is paradise for walkers, cyclists and painters, and there are also activities like canoeing, fishing and quad biking available. Wine lovers will find chateaux and vineyards aplenty while children can enjoy crazy golf, horse riding, tree top adventures and water parks. And there are numerous picturesque towns and villages to discover, from nearby Aubeterre, with its winding streets, river beaches and 12th century subterranean church, to the bustling market towns of Chalais and Riberac. Further afield the capital towns of Angouleme and Perigeux have a good selection of shops and restaurants, and the famous towns of St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux (not to mention the unspoilt beaches of the Atlantic Coast) are well worth a day trip.
Getting There:
