A charming Hansel & Gretel style wooden chalet in the mountainous SauAlpe area of Austria with spectacular views towards Italy and Slovenia. Sleeping up to 10 guests, it’s a wonderful setting for a holiday with family or friends, perfect for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
In a peaceful and relaxing natural setting, the chalet sits at 1100 metres above sea level on the edge of the SauAlpe area, bordered by forests behind and meadows in front. It’s a charming and characterful property offering a calming and relaxing environment to its guests.
The chalet is in a rural setting and there are lovely walks directly from the property. The pretty village of Diex is 4kms away, and the hamlet of Hochfeistriz is a 90 minute walk through the forest. Visit Burg Hochosterwitz, a fairytale 14th century castle, explore the towns of Klagenfurt & Villach, go mountain biking the mountains or discover the many beautiful lakes in the surrounding area. A paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Several great restaurants, local supermarkets and amenities are all within a 30 minute drive.

Interior Details
The chalet has four bedrooms and can accommodate up to 10 guests. There is a double bedroom and a bunk bedroom accessed via the main living area, each sleeping two. There are also two attic bedrooms with mattresses on the floor which can sleep up to four in one room and two in the smaller room. The attic rooms are low ceilinged rooms so suitable for teenagers / people who are prepared to duck! There is a large open plan living / dining room with wooden stairs up to the attic bedrooms. The living space has a TV (for use with DVDs) and a collection of books and games. There is a separate kitchen with windows out to the forest. The kitchen has both gas and wood ovens, a gas hob, and is fully equipped with appliances and utensils. There is a larder with a dishwasher, fridge and further storage space. The house has one bathroom with a shower over bath. There is a washing machine, and a boot room. The house has mains electricity and liquid gas bottles for the cooker. Water comes from a natural mountain spring. There is good 5G coverage. There is a solar heating system, as well as a traditional kachelofen (a tiled stove which is a traditional source of heat in Austria) in the living room.

Outside there is a wide furnished terrace and lawned garden with a BBQ, firebowl and campfire area, with fabulous views and perfectly positioned for all day sunshine and evening sunsets.

Please note this property is not suitable for unsupervised young children or those who are unable to manage stairs. The house has no wifi but there is good 4G/5G network coverage.
