One-Off Feature

Once the Georgian stables for the adjacent hall, Stable Cottage is a charming grade II listed cottage less than a mile from the delightful fishing village of Craster in Northumberland, with a bridleway to the wonderful sandy beach at Embleton Bay, with its adjoining golf course.  A truly wonderful setting for exploring the nearby castles, beaches, gardens and islands of this stunning part of the country.

General Info

The house is situated in the heart of the countryside, just under a mile from the harbour village of Craster and a mile or so north along a pretty bridleway to the beautiful beach at Embleton Bay.   There’s a host of historical and recreational sites to visit in the vicinity, marvellous beaches and coastal walks, as well as visits to local castles, gardens and islands.  Something for everyone in the group.  Please note Stable Cottage is opposite Hemmel House (sleeps 6) and Dunstan Hall (sleeps 18). Properties can be booked in combination for a larger group of guests and sleep 29 in total.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

If you can drag yourself away from the beautiful setting in which you’ll be staying, there’s no shortage of places to go and things to see in the vicinity.  You’re based just one mile from the sea and Craster harbour, from where the beautiful coastline stretches north to Dunstanburgh, Embleton, Beadnell and Bamburgh, and to the south following the sea as far as Alnmouth.  Within a 40 minute drive you can find yourself at no less than six castles, and there are also some beautiful gardens nearby, not least the famous Alnwick Gardens.  For the foodies amongst you, there are several renowned places to eat and drink, and in fact Craster itself is world famous for its kippers!  Biking, watersports, hiking, golfing, fishing, bird watching - all these activities are available locally.

Interior Details
The cottage can sleep four people and has been designed for reverse living in order to make the most of the views over the fields to Dunstanburgh Castle and the sea beyond.  There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, one king with ensuite shower room, and one twin bedroom.  There’s an additional separate bathroom.  The first floor is home to the open plan kitchen and living room with its exposed beams and wooden floors.  The kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, under counter fridge, small freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washer dryer.  There is a TV and wifi throughout.  

Exterior Details
The house has a private garden which is accessed directly from the property.  There is parking for two cars.

Conditions of Rental
Arrival and departure days are Friday or Monday.  No bookings for less than 7 days between November and March (inclusive). A welcome pack of essentials is provided.  To ensure guests with allergies can be comfortable, there are no pets allowed and non feather bedding is provided. The main entrance to the cottage has a lip and slight step down at the main entrance. Otherwise the ground floor is flat with the exception of one step down into the ensuite shower room. There are two short staircases which lead to the upper floor.  If you have any concerns about accessibility, don’t hesitate to enquire.  There are a variety of other concierge services on offer so you can tailor make your holiday to suit you.  Learn the art of natural photography on a coastal photography walk, book a professional chef to cater in house for you for a special meal, join a local history walk, or simply have some treaty indulgences, chocolates, champagne or flowers for example, to be left in the property with a special message for a loved one.  Just enquire to find out more about what can be arranged for you.
