One-Off Feature

A glass topped treehouse with a hot tub and two person swing on the deck, set in woodland in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Dorset.  Situated in a secluded corner of a bluebell wood, this is the ultimate romantic escape - unique treehouse accommodation combined with home comforts and a wow factor design.  Glamping in England in style...

General Info

This collection of award winning luxury treehouses and a hand crafted woodland yurt are set in beautiful west country woodland in Dorset, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It’s an adults only retreat, perfect for couples who wish to escape and recharge.  Each treehouse has its own private deck with a wood fired pizza oven and hot tub, as well as an ensuite flushing loo.  The original treehouse on site won an RIBA South West award and has featured on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces and on Grand Designs.  The other two treehouses have both been shortlisted for the 2023 RIBA architectural awards.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The treehouse is based in Dorset woodland, at the point where Dorset meets Devon and Somerset.  It is 10 miles from the Jurassic coast at Lyme Regis and 16 miles from the coastal town of Bridport.  River Cottage HQ, the brainchild of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is 7.5 miles away, where you can book a variety of cookery courses, as well as courses in curing, smoking and foraging.  Head to the coast for beaches, boat trips, mackerel fishing and fossil hunting.  Forde Abbey, a medieval monastery, is well worth a visit and right on our doorstep as the estate borders the treehouse woodland.  There are lots of great places to eat and drink in the vicinity, the nearest being the Tytherleigh Arms, two miles down the road.  Visit Pilsden Pen, the second highest point in Dorset for superb views across Golden Cap and out to sea.  Or perhaps you’d like a tour of the Black Cow Vodka distillery, local vodka made from milk!  Electric bikes are available to hire nearby and can be delivered to the woods.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
Inside the treehouse accommodation, the glass topped living space, set beneath the tree canopy, allows the space to be filled with light.  Full height one-way glass windows allow for stunning views into the woodland.  The internal rooms are arranged in a cross shape, but shifted off centre to copy the shape of a child’s pinwheel windmill.  You end up with an illusion of three dimensional facades due to the concentric rings of timber which decrease towards the centre.  The bedroom has a king size bed, the kitchen is well equipped and the living space has a wood burning stove.  There’s an en suite flushing look, plus a separate shower and dressing room.

Exterior Details
The private deck has a wood fired pizza oven, BBQ, fire pit, private hot tub, and a two person swing.  While away your hours gently swinging amongst the trees, listening to birdsong, and later in the day sinking into the hot tub and gazing at the stars above.

Conditions of Rental
Sorry, no pets (due to wildlife and livestock in the surrounding fields), and no children (this is an adults only retreat).  Open all year round - the high spec woodburner will keep you cosy at any time of year. Arrivals / departures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Minimum stay is 2 nights midweek or 3 nights over the weekend.  Check in from 4pm and check out by 10am.  25% deposit payable on booking.  Bed linen, towels, plus some logs and kindling are included, as well as tea and coffee.  Please note there is no wifi, but there is a good 4G signal.  There is electricity - sockets and usb sockets by all the beds and lighting throughout.  There is a woodland shop on site which sells wine, cider, pizza dough, extra logs, kindling etc.
