One-Off Feature

This safari tent, set on a family-run organic farm in rural Somerset is a fabulous choice for an escape.  Six luxurious safari tents, set across two separate glamping fields, all of which have private bathrooms, private hot tubs and can sleep up to six people each.  Farm animals, rural surroundings and views towards Exmoor National Park.

General Info

Built and furnished in a way that is more reminiscent of a luxury canvas cottage than a tent, these fantastic safari lodges offer the perfect balance of authentic low-key living and stylish home comforts. Each lodge  is cosy yet spacious, with private ensuite bathrooms and a whole host of furniture and facilities. Outside there are private hot tubs and expansive front decks from where you can enjoy lovely views of the rolling Somerset hills.  There are two children’s play areas on the farm and regular farm tours too.  And nearby there are beaches, walks, country pubs, National Trust estates and opportunities aplenty for outdoor pursuits. Whether you’re here to relax with friends, gather with family or escape with a loved one, the safari lodges at Middle Stone Farm are an idyllic setting for an unforgettable holiday.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The tent can sleep up to six people and has three bedrooms - a king room, a twin room, and a quirky double cupboard bed which the children will LOVE!  There’s a private and spacious bathroom accessed via the king or the twin room.  It is divided in two, with a basin and flushing loo on one site, and on the other side a large shower room with a water heating stove.   Cooking and heating are via the large wood burning stove in the heart of the tent and lots of firewood is provided.  The kitchen is well equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc.  There’s a small fridge freezer and an electric hob if you want to heat something up quickly without using the wood stove.  There’s a large table and chairs with ample space for everyone.   The sitting area has comfortable seating for chatting and relaxing.  There’s LED lighting and a couple of electrical sockets where you can charge a phone or laptop.  Although there’s no WiFi, there’ a good 4G signal on the farm if you need to stay connected.

Exterior Details
Each tent has a large fenced deck area with hammock, firepit / BBQ area area, comfy seating, picnic table and a wood fired hot tub.  There are stunning views towards the surrounding hills. The hot tubs are an optional extra which you can select when booking.  They are large hot tubs, perfect for up to six guests.  The tents are right on the edge of Exmoor International Dark Sky Reserve so the hot tub is the perfect place to relax and watch the shooting stars on a clear night!  This safari tent is one of three which are in the field with the farm shop (open Mar - Oct), climbing frame and swings.  There's also a paddock in this field with goats or lambs depending on the season.  This field is a good choice for families with young children, and these three lodges are also dog friendly.

Conditions
Changeover day is usually Friday, Monday or Wednesday and minimum stay is 2 nights except during the school summer holidays when most people stay for a week. Bedding, towels and kitchen basics are included as well as a generous supply of firewood.  Check in is from 4.30pm and check out is 9.30am. A well-behaved dog is welcome in three of the lodges.  Breakfast hampers, Organic meat from the farm and evening meals are available.  The safari tents are closed from Nov - Mar inclusive.
