Within acres of rolling hills and meadows in the beautiful Dorset countryside and just a mile from the sea at Charmouth you will find Hogchester Cottage, an idyllic property where you can properly sink into simple living. The land is 75 acres of private conservation land that is made up of stunning wildflower meadows, bluebell woodland, orchard, wildlife ponds teaming with life, and streams to explore.
Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just a mile from the sea at Charmouth, Hogchester Cottage is perfectly located for exploring the Jurassic Coast and the stunning Dorset and Devon countryside. A beautiful rural setting where you can truly escape. Young guests love taking care of the herd of friendly pygmy goats and collecting the daily chicken eggs.
The cottage is just a 5 minute drive from the UNESCO beach at Charmouth and 10 minutes from the historic harbour town of Lyme Regis, with its famous Cobb, fossil-packed cliffs and seafood restaurants. Foodies should not miss the famous River Cottage in Axminster, and the market town of Bridport, 8 miles away, is home to a good selection of independent shops, pubs and cafes. It is also home to a popular street market on Saturdays and Wednesdays and to a monthly farmers’ market. Visitors to the area should also make time for Chesil Beach, the castle at Lulworth Cove, coastal towns like Seaton, the nearby National Trust properties and the many walking and cycling routes.
Getting There:
From the North, take the A35 Charmouth Road south to Charmouth. Drive through Raymond's Hill. After short dual carriageway and on start of descending hill, pass sign on left hand side for Thistlegate Nursing Home. Start indicating left and approx. 50 yards on, turn left signposted Hogchester Farm. From the South take the A35 Charmouth Road north to Axminster. After Charmouth roundabout, take the first turning right (move into the filter lane) signposted Hogchester Farm.

Interior Details
The cottage has two bedrooms – one double and one twin with fantastic views down to the sea – and one bathroom. The country kitchen has an Aga and a dining area and the lounge has a log burner (wood supplied), a TV/DVD player, an iPod dock and a selection of games, books and jigsaws. The cottage has a washing machine and tumble dryer and there is plenty of child and baby friendly equipment available.
Exterior Details
Across from the cottage there is a peaceful garden area with a table and chairs and views to the sea, and a therapeutic massage hot tub. Surrounded by roses this is a lovely tranquil spot. There is a games room for your use, and surrounding woodland and wildflower meadows are yours to explore.
Conditions of Rental
Check in is 3pm and check out is 10.30am. Changeover day is Friday. Strictly no smoking and no pets. The owners live in the farmhouse next door and are on hand to help with anything you need. Extras like special campfires can be arranged.
