Olympia, Mycenae, Corinth and Epidaurus can all be found in the Peloponnese. The ancient theatre of Epidaurus is where the Olympic games first started, and nowadays where the Olympic flame starts its world journey every four years. There are medieval remains, old Venetian castles and Byzantine cities, some of which can even provide holiday rentals within the old cities! Mystras is a perfect example of a Byzantine city with beautifully preserved houses and churches that date back to the 14th century. For those in search of some sun, sea and sand, there is a great choice of holiday rentals in the regions of Messinia and Lakonia (in the south of the Peloponnese) where there are endless sandy beaches and deserted coves. For the activity enthusiasts, the landscapes are beautiful and perfectly suited to hiking and cycling, and there are watersports on offer all along the coast.
