Croatia - why it's an excellent choice for a summer holiday
Croatia is a country with many faces so a holiday here can take almost any form. Want a week of sunshine by the sea? Done. More interested in a cultural city break? No problem. Or maybe you’re not sure what sort of trip you’re after and you’re open to everything from island hopping to visiting ancient ruins – you can do all of that here too. Oh and did we mention how great the weather is? No wonder Croatia is an increasingly popular destination!
There can be no question that the Croatian coastline is utterly stunning, from Rovinj in the north to the city of Split and the islands of Brac and Hvar in the south (to name but a few tempting places). The waters are blue and sparkling, the atmosphere is buzzing yet laidback and the seaboard stretch of the country is dotted with traditional villages, vibrant cafes and beautiful architecture. If this sounds like your sort of vibe then take a look at Villa Akuna (think designer interiors and sun terraces with breathtaking sea views) or Villa Rosemarine (spacious, secluded and utterly luxurious both inside and out). Both were built with serious R&R in mind and you would be hard pressed to find two more spectacular holiday houses, especially for a getaway with friends.
If you want to stay with the coastal setting but swap the plush splendour for something more cosy and authentic, take a look at this lovely apartment on the tiny island of Bisevo. Not far from the world-famous Blue Cave (the snorkelling is out of this world) but also surrounded by vineyards and pine forests, this little hideaway offers plenty in the way of romance, character and unspoilt natural surroundings. And moving slightly further inland you will find the region of Istria, bursting with colourful flowers, fantastic hiking trails and fascinating medieval towns. Istria is home to Villa Angelina, an enchanting stone house with a swimming pool and a huge verdant garden – it’s family holiday heaven.
Obviously Dubrovnik (a designated UNESCO world heritage site) is pretty unmissable, whether you’re here for the walled old town and magnificent churches or the diverse restaurant scene and atmospheric film sets, and it’s the perfect setting for a chic seaside city break. Or alternatively you could head for the hills and Villa Pasini, a gorgeous house with contemporary interiors, a tranquil ambience and a hot tub with the most extraordinary views over the surrounding countryside.
As we said, Croatia is a country with a huge amount to offer its visitors so whatever sort of holiday you have in mind it is definitely worth considering… and then booking, exploring and enjoying!
