One-Off Feature

This villa in Italy is named after the morning light on the mountains and the reality is no less romantic. Perched on the front of a charming hilltop village, this centuries-old stone house offers dawn to dusk sun and the most exceptional views over the walled town of Barga, the surrounding valley and the dramatic Apuan Alps.

General Info

Northern Tuscany is one of Italy’s most scenic and culturally rich regions, and there is no better base from which to explore it than this wonderfully rustic and recently renovated village house with views you’ll never forget. The ancient house spreads out over three storeys, with massive stone walls and panoramic views from every window. The accommodation is very high quality, stylish and comfortable. The village itself is small, delightfully quaint and the surrounding countryside is stunning. Not to mention fantastic for those who love hiking, culture and all things traditionally Italian. Come and enjoy a slower pace of life at Casa Balduini.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The 2,000 year old Roman settlement of Sommocolonia looks down over Barga, a medieval town which was once voted in Italy’s top 20 for its balance of culture, tradition, beauty, food and lifestyle. It’s a working town with a vibrant community and lots of character. The 10th century duomo is stunning and there are opera, jazz and music festivals to enjoy throughout the summer. The Garfagnana area of Tuscany is a little off the beaten track but it is very rich in history, scenery, culture and gastronomy. Wildlife like deer, wild boar and roaming wild horses are everywhere. Activities  like walking, hiking and cycling are very popular, and there are three lovely pools in the area at Barga, Albiano and the Il Ciocco Resort. The famous Italian Riviera is just an hour away, the walled city of Lucca is nearby, and places like the Cinque Terre, Gulf of Poets, Florence, Pisa and Sienna make excellent day trips. Our digital guidebook will help guests get the most out of their stay at Casa Balduini.

Exterior Details

The most wonderful part of staying at Casa Balduini is enjoying the most amazing view you may have ever seen. Looking down on beautiful Barga and the Serchio Valley with the beautiful back drop of the Apuan Alpes. Sun from early morning to wonderful sunsets. Mesmerising and unforgettable! That’s why many guests who stay at the house seldom leave the property at night during their stay. See the many reviews. From the grape vine shaded kitchen patio, a stone staircase descends to the lawn and a dining terrace that is shaded by another grape vine pergola and looks out over the valley. A stone walkway, under shady Cedar trees, leads to a large second terracotta tiled terrace which also has sweeping views over the valley. Here you will find a table, dining and reclining chairs. The garden has many flower pots and the beautiful scent of jasmine in June/July.
