One-Off Feature
Step back in time when you stay at this character-laden, 16th-century retreat in Llanvihangel Crucorney. Sleeping six guests, the exquisite, Grade II* listed abode has three bedrooms and an abundance of gorgeous features throughout. Set within Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons, 5 miles from Abergavenny, it is in an excellent location for outdoor activities and has an immaculate garden with games such as croquet and table tennis.
Step inside to be wowed by the wood panelling, timber beams and inglenook fireplaces. Immerse yourselves in the full charm of the house in front of a roaring open fire in the lounge. Watch the Smart TV, set up a board game or choose a book to read in the study. Amble through to the kitchen/diner to whip up and sit down to hearty feasts. A utility space and WC are also downstairs. Wander up to the first floor for a superb night’s sleep. One of the three double bedrooms here has an extra day bed, and another is reached via a stone spiral staircase and features an en-suite shower room. The wall between this room and the next is wooden and therefore noise may travel between them. There is also a family bathroom, with a roll-top bath; a family shower room, and an additional small double bedroom, which is suitable for a child and can be made up if discussed at booking. Spill out into the garden to bask in the sunshine, play games on the grass and cook on the BBQ during the summer months.
Venture into the foodie town of Abergavenny to dine out and stock up on local produce. Visit the ruins of Llanthony Priory, 6 miles away. Walk a section of Offa’s Dyke Path, which follows the border between Wales and England.
