Hidden within the narrow streets of a traditional Andalucian village, Dos Hermanas is a four bedroom converted millhouse with garden, private pool, orchard and treehouse, with amenities on your doorstep, attractions all around, and the lure of the coast less than half an hour away by car.
From the street, Dos Hermanas looks like an unassuming three-storey building, but inside the surprises begin. The layout of each floor makes it seem as though the house gets bigger as you get higher and the interiors feel cool, comfortable and authentic. Stepping outside is like stepping into an oasis, whether you want to sunbathe and swim or sit in the shade, read a book, and savour some local wine and cuisine. The fertile Lecrin Valley, with its orange, lemon, almond and olive trees, is irrigated by water from the snows of the Sierra Nevada and it has its own unique climate which means it never gets too hot. Throughout both summer and winter this village house within walled gardens and rural surroundings is the perfect retreat for families and friends.
The village of Melegís is home to around 800 people, and the panadería, church, and a top child friendly restaurant, are all within walking distance of the house. It overlooks the Beznar Dam, about 10 minutes away, and is not far from the neighbouring villages of Lecrin, Murchas, Restabal and Conchar. The sea is a 30 minute drive to the south and Granada, 20 minutes north, provides retail therapy and culture (most famously the Alhambra), as well as tapas bars and a water park. Half an hour to the east and you are in the legendary Alpujarras, and Seville, to the west, is also within striking distance. There are lots of hillside rambles in the area for those who like to explore on foot, and there are guidebooks and maps available in the house. There is an 18 hole golf course half-way between Melegis and Granada and a 9 hole course by the shore at Motril. Durcal, a town 10 minutes’ drive away, offers a good sized supermarket with fresh fish and meat, and there are hypermarkets in Granada. The fresh fish at Carrefour is also worth a trip. There are smaller supermarkets just 5 minutes' drive up the hill. Bakeries from outlying villages also send their bread vans through the streets to tempt you on a daily basis.
