As you leave the environs of Glasgow itself you move into beautiful countryside, full of cycle routes, walking trails, wildlife and World Heritage Sites. If you’re renting a cottage in the Clyde Valley, the 42 mile long Clyde Valley Tourist Route is an excellent way to explore some of the scenery and attractions, or you could wander along the Forth & Clyde Canal. The Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve is full of waterfalls and birdlife and country parks like Finlaystone Country Estate and Dams to Darnley offer stunning gardens and places for escapism. And don’t forget the beaches - Prestwick Beach, Troon Beach and Ayr Beach to name but a few.
