One-Off Feature

Located on the slopes of Serra da Arrabida, with dazzling views over the mouth of the River Sado as it meets the Atlantic Ocean, Moinho de San Filipe is set on a charming Portuguese farm which offers rustic yet contemporary windmill accommodation.

General Info

Moinho de San Filipe is a haven of peace and tranquillity, surrounded by a breathtaking natural environment. The accommodation has been carefully and lovingly decorated with two things in mind – comfort and the harmony between inside and out. By day, the scenery is speckled with big sailing ships coming in and out of the harbour and tiny fishing boats going about their daily catch, and by night you will look out over a blanket of twinkling city lights.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The city of Setúbal has much to offer, from museums and monuments to fairs and festivals. Sights not to miss include the Jesus Convent, the Arrábida convent, the 16th Century Art Gallery, the roman ruins in Tróia, Setúbal Castle and Palmela Castle. The annual Sant'Iago Fair, between July and August, brings handicraft, wines, honey as well as the usual fairground attractions, or the "Festa de Nossa Senhora de Tróia" (Our Lady of Tróia Celebration), famous for its boat procession across the river, takes place every August. You can explore the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve and see dolphins in their natural environment, or you can get active and go fishing, scuba-diving, canoeing, horse-riding and golfing. If you just want golden beaches, head for Portinho da Arrábida, Galapos, Figueirinha and Tróia, all of which have a very Mediterranean character. And the Setúbal district is famous for its wines, cheeses, fish, pastry and honey, so make sure you try plenty of each!
