The Retreat at Witherdens Hall offers a bespoke, boutique retreat experience in a picturesque and tranquil setting. Bring your frazzled mind and weary body to be soothed and pampered in your own comfortable and spacious cottage, with jacuzzi bath and Aromatherapy Associates toiletries. The cottage sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms. There is also an open plan studio available to rent, The Suite, which sleeps 2, has an ensuite bathroom, kitchenette & living area. Both accommodations look out onto the peaceful courtyard area and garden. For both accommodations, there is a team of therapists and practitioners on hand to help you create your own tailored retreat.
Feed your soul from our great library of books and DVDs, indulge in some pampering holistic treatments, relax in the far infra-red sauna, massage chair or steam cabinet in the ChillSpace, explore the beautiful surrounding area, walk on a gorgeous local beach or simply curl up in a fluffy dressing-gown with an organic coffee and one of the latest wellbeing magazines. A wonderful choice for anyone looking to stay somewhere different or for unique places to stay.
Witherdens Hall is situated in Wingham, close to Canterbury and to the ancient town of Sandwich. It is perfectly placed for exploring the Kentish coast and indulging in country pursuits and culture - you could even take a quick trip across the channel. For those wanting an active break, the area is surrounded by the natural Kent countryside, with walks and cycle rides starting right outside the grounds. A nearby village offers paddleboarding and canoeing down the River Stour. In early spring the bluebell woods give a gorgeous display, and the salt marshes and sandy beaches nearby tempt guests for an afternoon of sea air. The nearby village of Wingham is full of beautiful Tudor buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants (it even has a wildlife park). Places like Walmer Castle and Canterbury Cathedral are well worth a visit, and there are excellent golf courses at Royal Cinque Ports and Royal St Georges.
Getting There:
Satnavs and maps are woefully inadequate for finding us. Please always use the directions we send you and note that Popsal Lane is only accessible from Goodnestone Road (it's on the left if you are leaving the village, just as you get out into open countryside, and it's on the right if you are coming down the hill towards Wingham from Crockshard Hill). Popsal Lane is NOT accessible from Staple Road. Popsal Lane is a no-through road and there is no place to turn at the end of the lane. Please drive slowly down the lane as Witherdens Hall is the first entrance on the right in Popsal Lane and you don't want to miss it!

Exterior Details
The main house at Witherdens Hall is the home to Louise and her daughter Alice. Some of the grounds are private, family areas, but the accommodations are situated around a large peaceful courtyard and during the summer months, Louise is happy for guests to pre-arrange a time with her to use the private pool for a swim. As we are a retreat centre, many of our guests come for rest and recuperation. We therefore politely ask guests to respect the peace and tranquillity of the space.
