This beautiful period cottage is bursting with character, from stone flagged floors and exposed wooden beams to original fireplaces and a working range. Completely restored but with a heritage feel, Jack’s Cottage is located in the picturesque village of Longnor, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, and it is an excellent base from which to explore the many delights of the region. The cottage has been thoughtfully restored, with a perfect balance of original features and up-to-date mod cons, and it has everything you could need for a relaxing and stress-free break. Snuggle up by the fire, sit in the garden enjoying the views or get out and explore this beautiful part of the world, with its sensational scenery, quaint market towns and magnificent National Trust houses. This is a sublime setting for a romantic getaway.
The Peak District is renowned for its beauty and it is a haven for ramblers, climbers and cyclists, whatever the weather. The village of Longnor has a well-stocked village store, a Post Office, a tea room, a fish and chip shop and the Cheshire Cheese pub reopening in the summer of 2023. Further afield, the Peak District is packed with things to see and do. Visit the Opera House, Georgian Crescent and Royal Stables in Buxton, explore famous Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall or the National Trust properties Hardwick Hall, Kedleston Hall and Calke Abbey, or wander round the parks and gardens at Ilam, Biddulph Grange and Lyme Hall. Alternatively, while away an afternoon in the market towns of Bakwell and Ashbourne, sit in a tea room in Tissington or Eyam, take on the High Peak and Manifold cycle trails, or stop in at Poole's Cavern or the Blue John Mines at Castleton. Never a dull moment!
Getting There:
From Buxton, take the A515 south signposted Ashbourne. After 4 miles turn right onto the B5053 signposted Longnor. Follow the road into the village and turn left opposite the school into Church Street. From Derby, take the A52 to Ashbourne and then the A515 North through the town centre signposted Buxton. After approximately 11 miles turn left onto an unnamed road signposted Hurdlow, Crowdecote and Longnor. Follow the road to the Market Square in the village centre. Turn right at the crossroads and then opposite the School turn right into Church Street. Park anywhere along this road. Queen Street is first on the right after the Church

Interior Details
The cottage has one bedroom with a double bed, wooden floorboards and a decorative original stone fireplace, as well as an adjacent shower room. The living room features a working cast iron range fire, a stone flagged floor and exposed wooden beams. It includes a dining table with seating for two, a sofa, a digital flatscreen TV with Freeview and inbuilt DVD player. The kitchen, which opens directly onto the patio and enclosed garden, has an electric cooker, a refrigerator with ice box, a microwave, a toaster and kettle and an iron and ironing board, as well as all the necessary crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils.
Exterior Details
Outside the cottage there is an enclosed, sunny, private garden and patio, with garden furniture for the summer months.
Conditions
We have received accreditation from two Covid ready schemes, Visit England and the AA, having followed government approved cleaning protocols provided by The Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC UK) confirming we can safely welcome guests to Jack's Cottage. These measures include:
Wearing protective disposable gloves and masks during the cleaning process
Using Dettol cleaners, antibacterial wipes and sprays (or equivalent products) to disinfect surfaces after cleaning with warm water and detergent, paying particular attention to frequently touched surfaces eg switches, handles, knobs, remotes, plugs, hangers, handrails, keys, key safe etc (full list in the cottage or on request)
Washing all linens and towels with non bio washing powder + Dettol Antibacterial Laundry Cleanser at the highest recommended temperature for the items
Providing antibacterial hand sanitiser, hand soap, paper towels and tissues for guests' use
We have also decided to remove all non single use items from the cottage including grocery items in the kitchen, so please bring your favourite tea and coffee, condiments and cooking oil, and hair and body products for the shower room! Individual single use washing up 'cleaning packs' will be provided, together with tea towels and all bed linen and towels.

Further Details
All bedding and towels are provided and there is a hair dryer for your use. Dogs may be accepted by prior arrangement at the time of booking and for an additional £25 per pet per stay.
