One-Off Feature

Once an old dovecote on a former cognac estate on the Charente/Dordogne border, Le Pigeonnier is a beautiful and characterful space that has been sensitively converted into a light and airy cottage. If you’re looking for something special you’ve found it.

General Info

The Longeveau estate is home to numerous special holiday rentals in France but few are as unique and treasured as this ancient pigeonnier tower. Much of the original beam and stonework is in place, which gives it lots of personality, but it has also been carefully modernised to contain all the home comforts and mod cons you could need. On site there is a wealth of facilities, from a golf course and tennis club to a swimming pool and a restaurant, and nearby is one of the prettiest villages in France, as well as river beaches, vineyards and historic sites. A holiday in Le Pigeonnier is sure to be one you will never forget.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The beautiful rolling countryside that surrounds the estate is paradise for walkers, cyclists and painters, and there are also activities like canoeing, fishing and quad biking available. Wine lovers will find chateaux and vineyards aplenty while children can enjoy crazy golf, horse riding, tree top adventures and water parks. And there are numerous picturesque towns and villages to discover, from nearby Aubeterre, with its winding streets, river beaches and 12th century subterranean church, to the bustling market towns of Chalais and Riberac. Further afield the capital towns of Angouleme and Perigeux have a good selection of shops and restaurants, and the famous towns of St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux (not to mention the unspoilt beaches of the Atlantic Coast) are well worth a day trip.
