Within the grounds of a 16th century farmhouse estate in France you will find Le Mazet, a charming little cottage which offers romance, tranquillity and a perfect base from which to explore the castles, markets, caves and wineries of the Dordogne.
If you’re looking for holiday rentals in France to relax and unwind in authentic yet stylish surroundings then this delightful little French bolthole is just the place to do it. Original features like vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and a large fireplace give the cottage huge character and atmosphere, yet you’ll also find all the contemporary comforts you could desire. The private south-facing garden is an idyllic spot for sunbathing, reading and dining al fresco. And in the local are there is a huge amount to see and do, whether you’re a hiker, a historian, a wine lover or an outdoor sports enthusiast. Whatever the season, Le Mazet offers a proper escape from the hustle and bustle. Le Mazet has been awarded 4-stars by the Dordogne Perigord Tourist Board, given 9/10 by The Daily Telegraph who have been to stay and included by The Times in their 50 French Best Holidays in 2019.
The house is situated in the south of the Dordogne, amidst rolling hills, bastide towns and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From your door you can enjoy gentle countryside walks to the medieval village of Montferrand de Perigord or the 12th Century church at Sainte Croix, and those in search of something more active can take on cycle route 26 (a 70km loop to Monpazier, Cadouin and back) or go canoeing, swimming and horse riding. The caves of Maxange are unmissable, as are the classical Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac and the hanging gardens of Marqueyssac. And don’t forget the hundreds of chateaux (Biron, Beynac and Castelnaud to name but a few), the prehistoric sites, the vineyards, the markets and the abundant beautiful towns, from Limeuil to Sarlat.
