In the corner of a classical French courtyard on a former cognac estate is Le Four a Pain, a former bakery which has been thoughtfully renovated into an authentic yet contemporary holiday cottage. Come and allow your cares to melt away.
The Longeveau estate is home to a number of charming and unique holiday rentals in France, and this converted bakery is one of the originals. Historic features like the old bread ovens in the kitchen give a sense of character and atmosphere, while modern comforts and facilities ensure a relaxing and carefree stay. Around the estate there are some exceptional facilities, from a golf course and tennis club to a swimming pool and a bar/restaurant. And a short bike ride will take you to one of the prettiest villages in France, as well as to river beaches, vineyards and historic sites. If you’re looking for somewhere unforgettable for your next holiday then Le Four a Pain could be just what you need.
The beautiful rolling countryside that surrounds the estate is paradise for walkers, cyclists and painters, and there are also activities like canoeing, fishing and quad biking available. Wine lovers will find chateaux and vineyards aplenty while children can enjoy crazy golf, horse riding, tree top adventures and water parks. And there are numerous picturesque towns and villages to discover, from nearby Aubeterre, with its winding streets, river beaches and 12th century subterranean church, to the bustling market towns of Chalais and Riberac. Further afield the capital towns of Angouleme and Perigeux have a good selection of shops and restaurants, and the famous towns of St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux (not to mention the unspoilt beaches of the Atlantic Coast) are well worth a day trip.
