One-Off Feature

In the heart of picturesque Limousin sits Manoir la Croix de la Jugie, a beautiful 18th century manor house with eight bedrooms, a gorgeous swimming pool and six acres of grounds. What better setting for a relaxing retreat, a family holiday, or even a wedding?  We are super family friendly - the pool is fenced and cover is available throughout your stay, travel cots and sheets, baby baths, high chairs, sterilising equipment and stair gates can all be provided!

General Info

The Manoir is steeped in history, with character touches throughout the house, grand old beams, stained glass windows and a quirky layout that begs to be explored. There are numerous spacious living areas, all of which display a perfect blend of rustic and contemporary, the charming bedrooms can comfortably sleep up to 19 people, and the grounds are fantastic for BBQing, dining, sunbathing, playing and rambling. And a short walk from the house is St Priest Ligoure, a small village complete with a boulangerie from where you can collect your daily bread order.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Limousin is the least populated region of France and as such it is the perfect antidote to the stresses and strains of day-to-day life. The countryside around the Manoir, with its rolling hills and large natural lakes, is full of walking and cycling routes, and activities like horse riding and golf are also popular against this backdrop. There is even a circus school nearby! Within a few minutes’ drive of the house you will find traditional French restaurants and local markets, and the area is also rich in beautiful old chateaux, captivating museums and delightful little villages. Perigueux (a wonderful foodie centre), Thiviers (the foie gras capital), Limoges (the centre of Limousin beef), Angouleme (a medieval Cathedral city), the Bordeaux wine region, Cognac and the Massif Central are all perfect for day trips and even Paris is only 3 hours away on the train.

We loved La Jugie. What a beautiful house... really stunning and special. We have all left with such happy memories! It was also in such a lovely part of France - one I haven't been to before, so we all enjoyed visiting the local castles and villages. But most of all we loved hanging around by the pool... which I was super grateful was heated as there were a fair few not so good days! We loved all the outside areas - gorgeous, with gorgeous wildlife! Loved the fruit trees too. The fire was fab and we had it going a few nights and we loved all the games / books etc. The showers were great too. Loved the shutters - kept the rooms lovely and dark at night. Brilliant tables for eating at and the BBQ area is sensational!

La Croix de la Jugie was the perfect location for a hassle free and relaxing break. The flight is less than an hour, the drive from the airport just over half an hour and then you find yourself in the idyllic countryside of the Limousin. We spent our days enjoying the house and gardens and taking the short walk in to the village for a picnic by the river before returning for an al fresco dinner fresh from the barbeque watching the sun set. On a more adventurous day we explored the beautiful surrounding countryside, with Jumilhac, Brantome and St Jean de Cole and their chateaux. We will definitely be going back!

Had a really relaxing stay at Manoir La Croix de la Jugie. The property itself is full of character, with spacious bedrooms, plenty of living space and lovely grounds. Location is great too - really peaceful with incredible views over the French countryside. The pretty village of St. Priest-Ligoure is within walking distance and supermarkets are only a short drive away. Would definitely go back!
