This beautiful townhouse has been completely renovated over recent years to provide a luxurious and comfortable house for up to eight people in a stunning riverside setting.  It’s an ideal location for a group of family or friends who want to enjoy peace and quiet, whilst having a plethora of activities on offer in the vicinity.  The house is laid out in such a way that there are quiet areas for reading and relaxing, and a fabulous balcony overlooking the Charente and the views beyond.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The pretty and picturesque market town of Saint Savinien sur Charente is right on your doorstep and has everything you need for your stay.  Walk to bars, cafes, shops and the weekly market to get all your food and drink.  The river runs through the centre of town which makes it not only astonishingly beautiful, but also offers a variety of water based activities such as canoeing, kayaking, boat hire, water skiing and wakeboarding.  The town has a number of outdoor heated pools where you can swim or laze.  The owners are happy to lend you their own canoes and kayaks for the duration of your stay, meaning you can explore the river around St Savinien, or even canoe up to the nearby villages of Port d'envaux and Taillebourg, stop for lunch and drift back!

Interior Details
The house is beautifully furnished throughout with a collection of vintage and antique french furniture, and the house retains a wealth of original features, including original marble fireplaces.  The entrance hall is typical of the grand ‘maisons bourgeoise’, and the original sweeping staircase which leads off it has been retained.  There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, one of which has a bath overlooking the river and fields beyond.  The lounge has a balcony overlooking the Charente, and leading off the lounge is a charming little snug, perfect for reading or enjoying a quiet coffee.  There is a large and well equipped kitchen and dining room..

The house has a riverside garden so you can canoe and kayak directly from your door, or laze in the garden and watch the river go by.

Further Details
The house is less than a half hour drive from the Atlantic coast and its beautiful unspoilt beaches.  La Rochelle is absolutely worth a visit - a beautiful city with lots to see and do, including museums, shopping, wonderful restaurants and pavement cafes along the old port.  Lots of vineyards are also nearby - Bordeaux, Charentaise Pineau and the Cognac maisons such as Remy Martin and Hennessy - all offering tasting tours and courses.  There are tennis courts in the town, golf courses nearby, fishing and horse riding available.  One of the many benefits of being in St Savinien is its small train station, from here you can hop on a train and go to La Rochelle, Saintes or Bordeaux for the day.

Conditions of Rental
