One of three charming cottages set on a small country estate overlooking the Heddon Valley in Devon, less than a mile from the coast. It is set in the heart of the Exmoor National Park in a peaceful rural setting, 10 minutes walk from the local pub and with fantastic views all around.
The three cottages were built 30 years ago on the site of a former stable block and are located in the beautiful Heddon Valley, the jewel of Exmoor National Park, renowned for its unspoilt natural beauty. You are surrounded by ancient woodland, heather covered moorland, and spectacular views of the dramatic coastline. The cottages are set in a designated international dark sky reserve, and with so little light pollution, you have some wonderful stargazing opportunities. There are footpaths galore - the South West Coast Path is a short stroll from the cottages, and there are challenging routes for cyclists. You can walk along the coast path to the pretty coastal town of Lynton and Lynmouth, or it’s a 10 minute drive. The famous Hunter’s Inn in the valley, is a 10 minute walk from the cottage.
There’s so much to see and do in the surrounding area. Walkers will be in heaven, with footpaths running in all directions. The Heddon Valley is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and home to a variety of wildlife including otters. The Exmoor coastline has dramatic high cliffs and sandy coves, and inland huge tracts of moorland. Visit the twin coastal villages of Lynton and Lynmouth for shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants, and experience their linked cliff railway. Visit the Valley of Rocks, or the dramatic gorge of Watersmeet. Not far away is Arlington Court, a National Trust house once owned by the Chichester family. Marwood Hill Gardens are well worth a visit, as is a journey on the Lynton to Barnstaple steam railway. Other attractions in the area include the historic villages of Clovelly with its steep cobbled streets and picturesque harbour, Porlock, Porlock Weir and Selworthy with its pretty thatched cottages.
