This 9 bedroom hall with adjacent 3 bedroom cottage is set on a 5000 acres private estate amid extensive forest and woodland on the shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Stunning interiors, hot tub, games room, beautiful walks and a wide range of activities on site, this is an ideal place for a gathering or celebration with family and friends.
This beautiful house is the perfect venue to relax and unwind with family and friends. The Hall has been decorated with a mix of modern touches, whilst retaining many of the original features, to offer guests a luxurious and comfortable experience. Set in the heart of the Graythwaite Estate, Low Graythwaite Hall is within easy access of Windermere and the watersports site operated by Graythwaite Adventure. Off site you are within easy reach of Hawkshead, Bowness and Windermere, and all that the Lake District has to offer. For those who want to stay in the haven of the house, there’s plenty to choose from with hampers and groceries that can be delivered to your door or you can organise a personal chef for your stay. There are also lots of wonderful eateries in the vicinity, from hearty pub grub to brasseries and fine dining venues.
The Graythwaite Estate itself offers 5000 acres to explore with endless woodlands and lake shore paths. For more adventurous souls our onsite activity partner, Graythwaite Adventure, offers everything from 4×4 driving to paddle boarding and even Archery and Axe-throwing! There is endless outdoor fun to be had, both on the estate and in the surrounding countryside. There are 5,000 acres to stroll around and anglers can enjoy our 2.5 acre private lake stocked with wild brown and rainbow trout. The Lake District is a haven for walking, mountain biking and lake cruises, you can try off-road driving and hot air ballooning or you could go fishing at Esthwaite Water fishery. Graythwaite Adventure teach bushcraft skills on the estate, Grizedale Forest (home to walking and biking routes, as well as Go Ape (the high-wire forest adventure) is nearby, and the YMCA National Centre, just 5 minutes away, offers kayaking, archery and climbing among other things. And if you’d prefer a gentler pace, visit the picturesque and historic village of Hawkshead, the busy market town of Ulverston, the homes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, and the nostalgic Haverthwaite Steam Railway.
Getting There:
IIf you are coming by car, take the M6 to junction 36 then join the A591 to Kendal, Barrow and the Lakes. After about 4 miles you’ll see a sign for Barrow A590; leave at this slip road and stay on the A590 following signs to Barrow. After about 10 miles you’ll enter Newby Bridge. Go straight across the roundabout and after 400m turn right, up the west side of Lake Winderemere, signposted Hawkshead. You’ll drive over a small bridge and past the Swan Hotel and Spa. Continue on this road for 7–10 minutes. You’ll pass a YMCA on your right. Continue for a couple of minutes and you'll see a small white sign on your right for GRAYTHWAITE. You'll then see Low Graythwaite Hall on your left.

Interior Details
The nine bedroom hall and three bedroom cottage can accommodate up to 24 people in total. Highchair, travel cot and zed beds provided. Six of the bedrooms in the hall are ensuite, plus there’s a family bathroom, and there’s one family bathroom in the cottage. Each of the bedrooms has been individually and luxuriously styled. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, large fridge freezers and all the crockery and cookware you’re likely to need, and there’s a decadent dining room where you can enjoy your meals. There is a large drawing room with an inglenook open fireplace and a large tv room with a smart TV, large fireplace with woodburning stove and huge windows overlooking the gardens. There’s a separate games room with table tennis, separate laundry room, and wifi throughout.
Exterior Details
The hall and adjoining cottage have extensive private gardens with a water feature, and of course you have 5000 acres of lake and woodland on your doorstep to explore. The hall has a private hot tub, as well as a patio area with BBQ and garden furniture. A few minutes away is Home Farm Courtyard where the farm shop, indoor swimming pool and children’s playground are located.

Check in from 3.30pm and check out by 10.30am. Up to 2 well behaved dogs welcome. Parking on the premises. Bed linen and towels provided.
