One-Off Feature

A pretty Victorian gardener’s cottage in Richmond, North Yorkshire, with views of the town’s Norman Castle.  The best of town and country, this south facing dog friendly cottage is just a 5 minute walk to Richmond marketplace and the same distance to riverside and woodland walks.

General Info

The cottage was built in the former kitchen garden of Elizabeth Yorke House and has been lovingly renovated.  A short walk to the centre of the historic market town of Richmond with its independent shops, restaurants and pubs.  A stroll in the other direction brings you to walks by the River Swale and through the woods.  The cottage is rated Visit England 4-star gold with a prestigious Rose award given in 2022.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Richmond is a charming market town and an excellent location for exploring North Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  It is the main town in Swaledale, a region dotted with pretty villages and beautiful countryside.  Aside from a good mix of shops, cafes and restaurants, Richmond is also home to the oldest working theatre in England, Richmond Castle, Easby Abbey, and a converted Victorian station which is now home to a cinema, cafe and artisan shops.  Many walking trails, several straight from the cottage.  As for days out, you have the Yorkshire Dales on your doorstep for walking, cycling and horse riding.  Visit castles and abbeys, or the surrounding dales of Swaledale and Wensleydale.  Gardens, museums and railways within a short drive, and the cities of Durham, Ripon and York are within easy reach.
