Set within flower rich meadows just 5 miles from Dorset’s magnificent Jurassic Coast, the High Cross Camping Coach is a cleverly converted Victorian railway carriage where you can enjoy a holiday with a difference.
If you want to climb aboard into another era then you’ve come to the right place. Built over 100 years ago for the London, Brighton and South Coast railway, this camping coach and adjacent living van are full of character and original features, from brass luggage racks and leather window straps to a traditional ship’s porthole and a French art nouveau stove. They are also fully equipped with contemporary comforts and nearby you will find beaches, harbour towns, historic houses, family attractions, cafes and local pubs. This takes glamping to a whole new level.
There are lots of lovely beaches and seaside towns nearby - Burton Bradstock, West Bay, Charmouth, Eype and Durdle Door to name a few - and there are also plenty of beautiful old houses and gardens nearby, from Montacute House and Forde Abbey to Lytes Cary Manor and Mapperton House. Children will love attractions like Monkeyworld, Abbotsbury Swannery, Swanage Railway and the many museums in Dorchester, and there are several pubs both in and around Beaminster, which is just a 2 mile scenic walk from the carriage.
