Gaucin is one of the most spectacular and unspoilt of the renowned “Pueblos Blancos”. 626 meters above sea level, with spectacular views to Africa, the Sierra de Ronda and The Alconocales National Park. Charming white washed houses range along a lofty ridge, vultures and eagles wheel overhead, surrounded by miles of sun-dried hills.
The village was once a centre for smuggling bandoleros (bandits) and remains a vibrant, traditional Andalucían pueblo where donkeys are still working and local festivals and cultural events are enthusiastically celebrated; There is a very welcoming atmosphere, plenty of good tapas bars and some excellent restaurants in it’s pretty tangle of narrow twisting streets; as well as fantastic summer weather.
