Super stylish places to stay in Brittany - an absolute must for a family holiday
Some time ago, the One Off Places family headed for Brittany for a holiday, and we were introduced not just to a beautiful part of the world, but to a collection of holiday properties which have been beautifully styled by their owner. Brittany has so much going for it. For a start, if you're coming from the UK, you don't need to fly (unless you want to), thereby saving money on flights, airport parking, car hire and the like. A ferry across (either a longer ferry and a shorter drive or vice versa) and you'll find yourself in the heart of one of France's most rugged regions.
Located in the north west of France on a large promontory which juts out into the Atlantic Ocean, Brittany is a fascinating mix of spectacular coastline, magical islands, ancient towns and inland woodlands. In essence a superb destination for families, groups of friends, relaxing holidays.
The One Off Places has a favourite (shhhhh!), which happens to be the utterly divine cottage, Lostmarch, a pretty stone cottage in a protected area of outstanding natural beauty just minutes walk from one of Brittany's best beaches. It sits in a totally unspoilt tiny hamlet of original stone cottages, and gives you the chance to take in all the wild and rugged beauty of the Atlantic and the Crozon peninsula.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms and is beautifully styled inside; a fabulous combination of traditional furnishings and modern style. A path leads directly from the garden to the cliffs and beaches of Lostmarch and La Palue, beaches which are totally unspoilt and peaceful. 3km away is the seaside town of Morgat with a huge variety of restaurants, shops and activities.

All this peaceful beauty can be enjoyed whilst being in a villa in Brittany just 3km from the bustling seaside town of Morgat. Here you will find a huge variety of restaurants and shops and a large, sandy beach excellent for small children.

Ty Bili and Ty Traez are set in a small hamlet of stone fishermen's cottages. The setting is quiet enough that you feel away from it all, yet you're just minutes from the village of Primelin which has a couple of restaurants and a supermarket. The houses are on the Cap Sizun, an area of protected coastline with the most spectacular coastal path and some of the most beautiful beaches in the area.
The houses are just 300m from the coastal path and a secluded pebble beach. Much like Lostmarch, Claire's wonderful eye ensures that the interiors are charming and stylish. Ty Bili sleeps up to five in three bedrooms and is a typical stone Breton longere dating back to 1836. Ty Traez is set in the same hamlet and is a larger house, sleeping up to eight people in five bedrooms. Superbly stylish interiors once again, including an enormous games room on the top floor with sea views, and a large private garden. A week at Ty Bili costs from €1200, and a week at Ty Traez costs from €1450.
The fourth of Claire's lovely places featured on One Off Places is a charming three bedroom gatehouse just inside the entrance on the grounds of a French chateau. Kistinic Gatehouse boasts everything from white Egyptian cotton bed linen and light contemporary living spaces to a wood burning stove and a handful of characterful antiques. On site you can wander round the park, lie by the swimming pool, cycle round the 2.6km mountain bike track and explore a maze of woodland paths.
