One-Off Feature

Situated among wonderful mountain scenery in Southern Spain, amidst cork oak and chestnut forests, the cottages of Molino Rio Alájar provide a comfortable retreat in a unique Spanish setting. Pool, tennis court and gardens to relax in.  Charming holiday cottages in a rural and peaceful area.

General Info

There are six houses on site, each sleeping from two to five people, with terraces for outdoor dining in spring or summer and fireplaces for cozy winter evenings. A short walk from your cottage, along country lanes lined with stone walls, takes you to the pretty village of Alájar with its white houses and winding, cobbled streets. Some of the bars and restaurants stand out for their cosiness and character. High above the cluster of white houses towers la Peña de Arias Montano, a craggy cliff with a sixteenth century hermitage set on its peak.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

A short walk takes you to the village of Alájar with several interesting bars and restaurants. High above is la Peña de Arias Montano, a craggy cliff with a sixteenth century chapel on its peak. Aracena, the main town is only twenty minutes away. It boasts a fine thirteenth century Templar church and the Gruta de las Maravillas, an impressive limestone cavern. Spain's largest wildlife sanctuary and a World Heritage Site, the Coto de Doñana National Park, is within reach. One of the last wild areas of Europe, visited by a great variety of migrating birds, and home to wild lynx. Seville, Mérida, and Huelva are within a drive of just more than an hour. Horses and donkeys can be hired on an hourly basis for guided treks through the countryside. The Dutch owners of the Molino have a sound knowledge of the area and detailed walking routes and itineraries are available.
